Our Mission

Hospice of Central Ohio is committed to being the premier provider dedicated to preserving the quality of life by providing expert physical, emotional and spiritual care to patients and families with life-limiting illnesses.

History

Hospice of Central Ohio, with its office in Newark, is a not-for-profit community based organization offering professional quality palliative and end-of-life care to patients and families residing in Licking, Muskingum, Perry, Knox, and Fairfield counties.

Founded in 1982 by 9 dedicated volunteers, funded exclusively by private donations and providing only in-home care, Hospice of Central Ohio cared for 18 patients during its first year.

Today, Hospice of Central Ohio benefits from more than 240 volunteers and a staff of over 120 paid professionals serving patients with all terminal illnesses in their homes, nursing homes, assisted living centers and the Selma Markowitz Care Center. In 2005 Hospice of Central Ohio served over 1000 patients and their families.
