Bereavement Services
Hospice Bereavement Services are offered to families and friends of Hospice patients and to the community at no charge. Bereavement services can begin as early as admission and follow throughout the illness and after the death.
The Hospice Bereavement Team consists of professional staff and specially-trained volunteers. Hospice provides:
- Family support
- Support groups
- Children's groups (in schools and at the Hospice office)
- Children's grief day camp (held annually)
- Individual counseling
- Support at calling hours and/or funeral
- Mailings and phone support
- Volunteer support
- Referral to other community resources as appropriate
Bereavement Programs
Hospice of Central Ohio currently offers the following bereavement programs:
Bereaved Parents of Central Ohio
An open group for parents and family members dealing with the death of a child from any cause and at any age.
Care and Share
An open group for men and women who are dealing with the death of a spouse.
GriefShare
A ten week series based on Christian principles, designed to help individuals grieving the loss of any significant person in their lives.
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Group
Sponsored by Hospice of Central Ohio and Licking Memorial Hosiptal. The group meets the fourth Wednesday of the month from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm, at the Hospice of Central Ohio Newark office located at 2269 Cherry Valley Road.
Journeys
A six week educational support group designed to help grieving persons understand and work through their grief while sharing with others.
Caregiver Support Group
An open group for any adult serving in a caregiver role to a family member or friend.
Motherless Daughters
A six week group designed for the adult daughter who has experienced the loss of her mother through death or abandonment.
Good Grief Group
A six week group for children ages 6 to 18 years who have experienced the death of a parent, grandparent, sibling, friend or other special person.
Children's Grief Summer Camp
A week long day camp for children ages 6 to 14 years who have lost a special person in their lives.
Hope for the Holidays
A scheduled event during the holiday season for adults and children who have experienced the death of a family member or special friend.
Celebration of Life
Regular memorial services open to families and honoring patients who have died.
