Palliative Care of Central Ohio is designed for patients who are facing a serious illness and often experience symptoms such as difficulty breathing, pain, nausea, fatigue, constipation, loss of appetite, and difficulty sleeping. Whether a patient is facing a life-limiting illness and isn't ready for hospice, is not yet eligible for hospice, or is still seeking curative treatment, our Palliative Care Program can help provide relief.
How Symptom Care Benefits You:
Addressing issues of nausea, loss of appetite, fatigue, pain, shortness of breath, and other symptoms related to the serious illness or side effects of treatment, allows patients to gain an improved quality of life and, for many, the strength to fight their illness.
Managing care with multiple health care providers
Our Palliative Certified Physicians and Nurse Practitioners provide and in-home assessment, disease specific education, environmental evaluations, and comprehensive medication review for our patients. We are a consultative service intended to augment and coordinate the care already being provided. Patients continue to maintain relationships with their Primary Physician and specialist while under our care. Symptom Care is a supplement to the services the patient already receives and should not impact payment or services from other entities. Palliative Care services are often covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and Private Insurance as medical specialty services.
Supporting decisions and goals
Patients and their families receive guidance to make decisions throughout the course of the disease by discussing treatment options and individual goals of care.
